William Griffith about 40, brother of Morgan Griffith of South Milford, died at Cedar hospital Thursday from injuries after a horse kick while caring for F Williams sheep herd on Beaver mountains. His intestines were punctured in several places and an allied hernia operation reopened. A military funeral at Greenville is planned.
W W Crone T S Pierce and T O Pierce report sending a two ton silver lead ore shipment to the smelter from the Cedar Talisman property west of Milford. They expect better returns from recent smaller shipments and foresee 15 to 20 workers for future ore work after removing limestone overburden. Vandalism has stripped machinery across Talisman mines, hindering development after a spring visit by the partners.
Rail passengers praise U P innovations on a new air conditioned coach and tourist car service. The train features free pillows water dispensers porter service and a dimmed night lighting scheme. Meals are offered at under one dollar for three meals and a women travelers lounge is provided. Summer tourist rates and bargain fares apply.
A strong storm Wednesday night and this morning caused flood like rainfall above Adamsville, damaging state highway sections and necessitating repair crews. The Los Angeles and Salt Lake railroad also sustained damage west of town near Carr Modena, with workers called to maintain traffic.

Utah's federal surplus relief program reports nearly 10 million pounds of foodstuffs plus bedding and clothing distributed to the needy since October 10, 1988. The program valued at 1.66 million dollars, with 7.04 percent distribution costs, notes Utah surplus commodities director Glen D. Reese.
A deep storm west of Milford drops 0.68 inches at Desert Range Experiment Station. Pine Valley highway floods, Warm Point wash widens by about six feet and carves rocks downstream. Water covers hardpan east of the station, while several miles of local roads and fencing are destroyed by the torrent. The assistant director notes such rain levels haven’t been seen there in years.
