Heavy rain drenched Adamsville and Minersville areas adding about 400 acre feet to Minersville reservoir storage and delaying planned gate closures. Flooding affected highway 21 near Adamsville and damaged rail lines near Newhouse through Frisco, with culverts washed out and track damage across miles.
The Milford American Legion Auxiliary closed its yard and garden contest with winners named Mrs. Thomas Beard first and Mrs. William Cochrane second. Judges were Charles Beard Mrs. Mary Fernley and A. E. Clark. Over 150 youngsters enjoyed ice cream cookies and games at Legion park, thanks to Legionnaires and friends.
South Milford Flower show chairwoman Mrs Parley Fisher invites all flat growers to enter at the annual show on August 18 with categories for single flowers mixed bouquets variety bouquets and unusual or new flowers plus a club members only gladioli Calenda display. Helpers are urged to bring containers for arranging and the evening camp fire features men and families with food while prizes are awarded in the afternoon show.
Railroad authorities from Union Pacific inspect flood damage in Milford after July 3, meeting Mayor Hubbell and town engineer M. P. Lewis. W. E. R. Armstrong leads a survey of water paths to town from four miles out, followed by a second session at dawn. A Union Pacific group also surveys damage on the Newhouse branch line.
The Beaver County Commission reduced the recorder’s pay the most by 150 dollars while boosting the treasurer’s salary by 100 and raising the assessor to 1200 with a full year commitment. The county attorney remains at 1000.

A group of young girls swam Thursday at the municipal pool before gathering at the home of Margaret Cochrane for a delightful lunch and card games. Guests included Miss Cochrane and the Misses Helen Bird, Mary Banks, Lucile Frazier, and Emme Patterson.
The 4 H Foods club met at the high school on Thursday August 2 with leaders Mrs. O R Smith and Mrs D Ryan. They discussed plans for the Mothers breakfast to be held next Thursday and announced a special meeting for Wednesday morning.
The county nurse, Mrs. Lacey P. Williams, offers free health supervision in Milford Beaver Minersville with weekly visits. Milford Junior League won an 8 to 1 four inning game at Cedar City, with a return slated for August 19. Eighty carloads of relief cattle were shipped from Milford yards under federal activity, totaling about 2600 head, with payments per age class and substantial overall funds projected for relief efforts.
The new C C C camp in the Beaver mountains reached its full strength of 235 men last week. The main camp sits at last year’s Camp Delano site with detachments sent to various locations. Commanding officer is Captain James M. Walker. The staff includes Lieutenant Edward L. Blincoe as mess officer adjutant and camp exchange officer and Lieutenant Edward M. Squier in charge of welfare and supply. Forest service personnel include William C. Oakden as camp superintendent Clyde Ward fence foreman Robert White road foreman. Beaver listed personnel hold ratings such as First cooks Robert Limb Leland Beard Platoon leader Elmer White section leaders Joseph Patterson Grant Murdock Bill Pryor Exchange clerk Coy Clark Assistant leaders Rulon Anderson Clifton Beaumont Lester Briggs Clyde Hollingshead Roy Hunt Bernard J Walker Cleo Walker and Harry W Thompson.
County commissioners cut the county levy by two tenths of a mill and reduced the road levy to .7 while boosting the library fund to one mill. The school district increased bond and interest by 1.5 mills to 5.5 to keep the overall levy higher than last year. Milford town eliminates a one mill improvement levy, Beaver city gains from a 1.2 mill rise, and the state tax commission adds .4 mill to the state levy, lifting the general county levy by about 1.2 mills.
Mr and Mrs Paul E Beecher spent the forepart of the week in Milford making arrangements for resumption of his work as principal of the high school.
Juab county hosts the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah for a two day session in Nephi August 18 and 19. The first Juab county visit aims to showcase the area with scenic tours and a Mount Nebo loop outing. Entertainment committee members include Hawkins Huish Forrest Warenski and Cu vier plan a 3 pm business session a banquet and a dance at Nebo Gardens. Delegations are expected from Eureka east Juab and 13 other counties forming the association.
