Milford and Beaver county fair committees worked through a scheduling conflict by coordinating dates to avoid clashing with Fillmore and Delta events. Milard County Alfalfa Seed Day and the Milford fair will occur August 29-30 and September 12-13 respectively, with mutual support promised to ensure both events succeed.

Members of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers met at Mrs K B Co's home on Wednesday afternoon to select officers for the coming year. Captain Mary Tobyson is chief, with Asen Ith Pool as first vice, Jane Lang as second vice, Cora Jones secretary treasurer, Josephine Tan her registrar, Bergie Dean historian, Emma Smith relics custodian, Ethel Nielsen corresponding secretary, Mevin White chaplain, Lou Maccre chorister, Larnessa Baker organist, and parliaman Bolverine Palmer as parliamentarian.
Floyd Kotter Milford high school athletic director announces a comprehensive recreation plan authorized by the county board of education. Activities run 9 to 12 at the high school weekdays and 6 to 8 at the park daily, with a free tennis court beside the Milford Athletic club for students and a school tennis tournament planned later in the month.
Alan L. Ash reports the Beaver pass Rock corral road survey is done and sent to headquarters for approval. Construction is slated for late August or early September with rain causing water in reservoirs. Two members will attend the annual CCC summer school in Salt Lake City. a minor accident en route caused a delay and substitutes filled vacancies.
Mrs. George Fernley her daughter Renee and son George returned home Saturday after a several week visit in southern California They were joined by Mrs Fernley’s sister and husband Mr and Mrs Eugene McKee of Huntington Park California who will visit here for a time

The twilight softball league near Floyd Kotter begins with White Market beating Milford Volunteer Fire department and CCC boys defeating Jefferson Mere on Wednesday. Five teams form the schedule with games on the old Union Pacific diamond. The five-team slate starts Friday with the School squad showing promise in week two. Spectators are invited and girls or women may contact Coach Kotter to form an evening league.
Miss Patty Kump of Rupert Idaho vacationing with Mr and Mrs Lyle Kump. Billy Bergman of Burbank California visits cousins Mr and Mrs Damires. Union Pacific agent W HL Sturdevant settles in with new helper. House guests include Deas Kump and Louis Kun. Leonard bays hom visiting A G James and Dorothy James. They plan to visit St Paul before returning to San Francisco. Matinee for sale at The News office.
Plans mature for a three day racing meet at Parowan on August 10 11 and 12. Liberal purses for seven races daily attract top state horses including the Bamberger string Salt Lake City and Stewart horses Payson with entries from Rich Sevier Garfield Kane Provo Cedar City and beyond. Gate starting will speed events and evening entertainment features fights wrestling and dancing by Short's Rhythm Kings southern Utah's popular dance orchestra.
Weekly communicable disease report from the Utah State Board of Health notes an infantile paralysis case in Salt Lake City, two typhoid in Davis County and Open, two undulant fever in Price and Cedar City, and two tularemia in Cedar City and Salt Lake City. Total new cases for the week ending July 28 reach 132, down 21 from last week and 97 from the same week in 1988, with mumps and chickenpox driving the declines and other diseases also dipping.
Light showers moved through Milford as a weather system passed, causing minor rainfall across sections. Forecasters expected another round but indicated only light precipitation with no significant impact on local areas.
Four Milford trainees at the Fort Dowlas CMTC led the award tally during the two day visitor's day review. Camipeau earned second in the Sigand dash and was marked as a marksman in basic rifle. Gilles won first in both the 120 yard high and 220 yard tow hurdles and placed second in high jump while also qualifying as marksman. Murdock was second in 220 yard dash, part of Company D winning the 80 yard relay, and on winning shuttle relay and softball squads. Smith joined the shuttle relay with Murdock. The event included an address by Heber J. Grant and other demonstrations before a large audience.

Senators Boraly and Johnson claim leaders will act, while Roosevelt could invoke a special session. lawmakers fear adjournment penalties and blame for inaction linger amid criticism of lazy, unproductive conduct.
The Camp Burbank unit lists Mr Warner Mr Jenkas Mr Law and Mr Cameron as trained firefighting instructors with prior forest fire experience. They expect to be more efficient when called to assist in forest fires after ten days of training at Camp Burbank.
