Tragedy Strikes Milford as Youth Dies After Bee Sting

Chester Goes Haskell Junior twelve years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Haskell, died in Milford after a bee sting provoked a severe reaction. He collapsed at home after being stung on the ear while working in a field. Funeral services are set for Friday at the Methodist church in Milford.

Rail Route Planned to Boulder Dam Construction Site

The Los Angeles and Salt Lake railroad has been authorized by the Interstate Commerce Commission to build a 23 mile Clark County Nevada branch south of Las Vegas. The line will allow transfer of supplies to the Boulder dam project when construction starts, with continuation by the federal government to the dam site.

Church services resume at M E Church with Rev Root back

Rev H E Root returns from vacation and resumes duties at the M E Church. Morning worship is at eleven, evening services at eight, and Sunday school at ten. L D S and Christian Science services follow their usual hours including ten and eleven a m. The Root family and Mr Root’s mother returned from a month long Colorado vacation.

Salt Lake Tennis Team to Visit Milford Sunday

Salt Lake Union Pacific Athletic club players meet Milford A C rivals on Milford courts this Sunday with eight singles and two doubles matches plus a rifle shooting event at the Milford A C range. The Salt Lake group includes Hickman and Halverson among others. Milford fields Crawford Easton and others. A Band concert and lunch follow the contests.

Three Year Old Reels Big Trout at Paragoonah Reservoir

Philip Lund, three, son of Mr and Mrs R M Lund of Milford, caught a 17 inch trout in the Little Reservoir near Paragoonah on July 18. He called his father to help pull the fish ashore, the largest seen in the reservoir for some time Beaver Pressa.

Guests Return to Kansas City Home

Three ladies, guests of Mrs. C. C. Lewis, leave Milford for Kansas City. The visitors include Mrs. Mary McIntire and her sisters, Mrs. Peat Blackburn and Mrs. Deborrah Cameron. They toured Puffer's Lake, the Grand Canyon, and Lehman's Cave during their two week stay. Mrs. MeIntire, age 78, enjoyed the visit immensely.

Frisco Cloudburst Drenches Milford Streets On Tuesday

A heavy cloudburst in the Frisco foothills flooded Milford on Tuesday evening. Streets between Main and the depot filled with muddy water, washing away track and submerging the new tennis court. Homes along the riverbank were swamped as the Beaver River swelled into a lakelike flood. By Wednesday morning the surge subsided and cleanup began.

Obituary of 88-year-old G. A. R. veteran Carlton

The 88 year old Mr. Carlton died at Sandusky Ohio Soldier's Home after serving three years in the Civil War with the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was the only G A R member in Milford area and was elected to honorary membership in the Milford Post Veterans of Foreign Wars.
