A Monday evening head on collision near the Hugh Granite Passaraml junction six miles west of Beaver killed four people and left two more injured. In the Bowden car were Dean Bowden 34 and William Brooke 22 of Beaver. Earl Harris 28 of Minersville died next day and Frances Pearce 20 of Beaver died early the next morning. Dell Hollingshead 26 of Minersville survived with injuries. others faced serious conditions after the crash. A coroner's jury found excessive speed as a likely cause. speedometer reading reached about 100 mph. Funeral services were planned for Beaver and Minersville in the ensuing days.
Jean Fugal of Pleasant Grove, a Utah State Agricultural College Lean graduate, is named Milford High School ag teacher by County Superintendent S. M. Wittner. He began this week, succeeding Clair Acord who moved to the federal farm security administration in Ogden.
Democrats name delegates from Milford districts 1 and 2, Roosevelt leaning results show 100 percent New Deal delegation to county convention to be held in Beaver next Saturday April 20. Milford State bank assistant Letha Smithson undergoes a major operation at a Salt Lake hospital with Bill Noffsinger of Walker Bank and Trust assisting in the absence. Mr and Mrs Homer Harris of Phache Tusmer travel from Milford for the funeral in Minersville of Mr Harris' brother.
Lions and their willet invited to Sunday celebration marking the seventh anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Mil ford Lions welcomed visitors at a regular meeting led by Stanley Walker and Clyde Tervort. Events include a 10 am softball game, camp tour, dinner at 12:30, and tours of nearby projects ending at Rock Corral Recreational Center. Plans for road improvements and water use for stock watering were discussed. Lions Moody and J. C. Smith announced leadership and awards for members. Clyde Tervort and Jay Thompson attended as CCC camp guests.
The Burbank CCC defeated Milford All-stars 15 to 11 in a free hitting game with multiple lead changes. Milford’s Williams started strong, Hatch drove in three with a foul-line homer, and Morrison, Rucker, and Pietraak combined in a big second inning rally by Burbank.
Milford High School speech members competed at the BYU meet in Provo with Carolyn Clay and Lois Gray in forum, Carolyn Clay in oration, Phillip Carlisle in dramatic reading, and a trio of debaters Jack Clements Frank Tribole Shirled Altman Pan Gillies, nine wins in twelve debates. Across Dixie Ogden Salt Lake City Richfield Provo, the team totaled 53 debates with 16 losses, all by split decisions, signaling a promising school endeavor.
The Beaver county CCC camp Milford G-35 Company 794 celebrates the seventh CCC anniversary with an Open House on Sunday April 14 starting 10:00 a.m. A softball game vs Milford opens the day, followed by camp tours, a 12:30 p.m. dinner, and tours of nearby projects including Big Wash reservoir and Rock Corral. Regional grazing service officials are expected.

Milford town board approved purchasing and installing a 160 foot water tower to double storage. The 100000 gallon tank, previously in Laurel Montana, would cost about 6000 to move and install, with total project costs around 37000 including dismantling and reassembly. Engineer J Ullrich and W T Davis of Davis Construction oversee details and site work tests are underway to ensure a solid base east of the present tank.
Forty to fifty guests attended the Camp Burbank observance marking the seventh anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps. A 16 to 11 softball win by the Milford All-Stars over the camp team, a tree dedication for late CCC director Robert Fechner, and praise for the camp’s work and training highlighted the event.
