Alfidi Family Opens Midlothian Shop With Wide Selection

The Alfidi family, newcomers from Chicago, recently opened a store at 4113 W 147th St in Midlothian offering a broad range of electrical appliances and home goods. Louis Alfidi, former Dodge-Chrysler lay-out inspector, oversees merchandise including radios, lamps, furniture, toys, and Christmas items. He was educated in Rome and served as a lieutenant in the Italian army before moving to the United States.

Delegates of Sidlothian groups meet for civic agenda

Twenty or more delegates attended the Friday meeting called by Be Kuttnau r. The group discussed pledges, officers and committee chairs for three project groups. Dues set at $1 for four months. A dinner under project No 1 planned for Feb 17. Public health speaker and camp site replies noted.

Midlothian Club Announces Outdoor Christmas Display Contest

The Midlothian Gareane club resumes cash prizes for best outdoor Christmas displays this year. Entries should notify Walter Button of Midlothian. Judging runs from Christmas Day through Sunday December 29 with assistance from Mrs Kart Kramer.

Mac Inaugurates Basketball Game and Dance Night

The Mac will present a new entertainment debut at the Midlothian public school auditorium with a basketball game followed by a dance. The team joins a new Illinois league facing strong local rivals from high school and semi pro ranks. Games set for most Fridays except during the two week Christmas vacation.

Mrs Selma Caliban Dies Sunday

Mrs Selma Caliban dies Sunday after a lingering illness at the family residence in Midlothian. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 30 p m at Mieke chapel Oak Forest with interment at Beverly cemetery. She was born in Sweden and lived in the area 16 years. Survived by two sons Harry and Paul. husband preceded her in death.

Christmas Vacation Begins for Midistian Students

The Midistian school begins a 16 day holiday as students wrap up two weeks of Christmas activities. Gus Frederick donated one Christmas tree for the school and each room decorated its own tree. Christmas caroling and a party organized with PTA help lead into the break. School closes December 20 and resumes January 6.

Not Guilty Verdict in Leaving Scene Case

Last Saturday Judge A. O. Andrews found Jim Jensen and Kostner not guilty of leaving the scene of an accident without giving name and address. Only witnesses Grace Andre and her friend testified at the trial.

School Board Approves Teacher Pay Increase and Support Measures

The board of education in District 143 met to review finances and granted a $200 per year raise for teachers, noting salaries remain below living standards. No tax increase was planned. A substitute teacher and remedial class were approved, along with new educational books and camp site discussion for Lac Du Flambeau pending tribal council input.

Hope Luthean Church plans two Christmas Eve services. A 7:30 p.m. children's service features the children's choir. A midnight candlelight service begins at 11:30 p.m. The anthem is Come Joyful Shepherds. Donald O'Connor will sing O Holy Night.
