Private Michael T. Lamb completed recruit training at Parris Island and is en route to Camp Lejeune for combat training before reporting to San Diego for Basic Electronics School. Private Bradford W. Garman finished at Parris Island and will train at Camp Lejeune then take 20 days leave to his mother in City. Private Jimmie H. Rowlett also finished at Parris Island and proceeds to Camp Lejeune for combat training. Private Arnold R. Prater finished at Parris Island and transfers to Camp Lejeune for combat training then to Yorktown Virginia for duty after 20 days leave. West Point founded March 16, 1903 by Act of Congress.

Curcullus C Gregory Barbourville Ky died September 3 at Barbourville Community Hospital. Born September 4, 1887 in Pineville. Founder of St Pax Baptist Church. served as deacon, Sunday School superintendent, teacher, treasurer, and community leader. Survived by four daughters Vivian Gregory Rodgers, Joyce Ann Lollay, Peggy Joe Keels, Alice Faye Palmer. brother Charles Gregory. sisters Rosa Kincaid and Cordelia Gregory.
