Local ministers will announce the Community Chest drive on May 27 from pulits Sunday morning and give brief talks on its importance. Executives of clubs and organizations will address meetings, leaflets will be distributed, and Manning Theater will host nightly speakers and slides, reaching hundreds.
Representative Langley remains in critical condition after a cerebral hemorrhage. He has partial paralysis affecting brain and speech functions, with slight improvement noted since last night.
Winchester, May 17. The city gaily festooned with hunting and radiant banners prepares to host 4,000 Knights Templar for the seventy seventh annual Kentucky Commanders conclave. Delegations expected by Tuesday. program opens Wednesday with hotel and housing arranged. Special trains, busses and automobiles will bring visitors for receptions, dances, luncheons, and other events.

Frank McDowell, who confessed to killing his two sisters and parents, was arraigned in Clearwater Florida after noon yesterday and pleaded not guilty to indictments charging murder of his mother and father. Circuit Judge McMullen set June 5 as his trial date. The grid jury handed in indictments naming the two sister killings in Decatur Georgia and the later parents killings in St. Petersburg. McDowell remains in county jail insisting an unknown power compelled the murders.
Sanes Ware a seventeen year old colored youth was accidentally shot in the hip yesterday afternoon in an alley behind the Smoke House pool hall. He told doctors he was transferring a pistol from holster to pocket when it discharged. Ware, a driver for a transfer firm, was unloading furniture at the time. He left hospital after the bullet was removed.

Batteries were Burch and Van Reber for M H S and Dossett and Manly for L M U. Van Reber earned four hits in five at bats. Teams kept the same lineups as in the prior game.

Five Bell county prisoners escaped while at work on the road near Clear Creek Springs yesterday. Jailer Jim Howard says Judge J S Bingham has offered a reward of ten dollars each plus expenses.
Middlesbury Kiwanians are invited to Pineville Tuesday evening to view educational motion pictures at the Continental Hotel after the Kiwanis luncheon. Two thousand feet of film will showcase Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain National Parks and other western sites, arranged by White L. Moss. Al W. Placke, Northern Pacific Railroad traveler, will show the pictures. Miss Roberta Cole of Barbourville will sing at the meeting.
