Vitamin C degrades into harmful compounds when exposed to air
A UPI report notes a three year study by Dr. Wilk of the University of the Pacific showing vitamin C tablets lose potency and form potentially harmful compounds when exposed to air and moisture. Degradation is faster at room temperature, and partially preserved in refrigerators. breaking down begins immediately once opened or in liquid form.
