Witness Against Ex Gov Says He Was Threatened
Former gubernatorial aide William Loy testified in UPI report from Charleston that he was pressured by prosecutors and insinuated with charges to change his grand jury statement during the trial of Governor Moore and an extortion scheme involving a 1972 demand for 25,000 from Theodore Price of Diversified Mountain. Loy described intimidation as he denied any direct extortion in the case and recalled a June telephone call about meeting governor officials for a DMC subsidiary matter.

In Jonesville Virginia a county flag contest drew 176 designs. Dwight Campbell of Rose Hill submitted the winning design, featuring red and blue squares, a central circle with symbols of Lee County’s economy, scenery, soil fertility, and education. The flag will be presented May 29 at the courthouse. top 30 entries will be publicly posted, with entries available for pickup at the Extension office through May 7.
