ADEE Airman James Browing won a six thing prize for singing a Western solo after competing in the Ale Patee's War Talent Show on Guam. Browning is the son of Miami Airs, Lee Browning.
Alvie C. Lovett, age 22, of Jellica, participates with the Rav Airborne Division’s Feith Talany regiment in Exercise Cavitrex and Hin Selva in the Canal Zone.
PFC Burl Knuckles participates in an exercise titled King Cole near Fort Holt, IS. Mrs Albert Knuckies of Beverly and local observers report on the unusual training event.
Pvt. Lewis O. Wallen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wallen of Blackwater, has recently graduated from the eight-week metalworking course at The Ordnance School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The program trained him in metalworking skills for military service.
Pvt David Crigger serves in the Canal Zone with the Army's 325th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, stationed near Cartbet and Rio Selva. His unit trains and fulfills duties in the tropical theater while awaiting orders and home leave.
Oakley Gambrel, 20, son of Sawyer Gambrel, has completed the military police course at the Army's European Intelligence, Military Police and Special Weapons School near Oberammergau, Germany, marking a notable milestone in his military training.
Nelson King, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Littrell of Middinsboro, has been assigned to the Tenth Transportation Depot in France during wartime.
Pye Corbett Cheek, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Cheek, completed the eight wreck automotive maintenance helpers course at the Armors Training Center Fort Knox. He is a 194 graduate of Henderson Settlement High School. Obituary notices list Mrs Maryparet Deva Benge of Adrian Michigan died May 22 at 10 35 am after illness aged 87 3. She was a Baptist member with many survivors including six daughters and 85 grandchildren and 113 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 25 at Brown Funeral Home Adrian with burial at Morrison Center Cemetery. Also noted are Lucinda Lanham Long 85 of Tazewell who died at her son's home and Mabel Price 36 of Pineville who died Thursday and will be buried at LC OF Cemetery after funeral at Straight Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
