Sgt John Minton and wife Bula G Silne, son of Charles and Mrs Minton, arrive in Japan to join an air craft group TI on a jet fighter bomber unit of the 1st Marine aircraft Wing in Gain, Texas, Tean.
Pvt Jack M Friar, 21, son of Mr and Mrs Pascal Friar of Rose Hill, has completed the basic training course conducted by the 516th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Jackman.

Record of a Niagara River ice blast that damaged riverside homes docks and boat sheds. The Levwe Island village saw about 200 000 dollars in damage though overall losses were unclear. Engineers warned ice could reform and attempted dynamite blasts were unsuccessful.
