Earlington Kentucky celebrates as its Yellow Jackets win the state high school basketball title at Louisville. Coach Ben Fox’s team, 48-1, returns home to a 1 pm arrival amid a 1200-strong welcome. Town officials plan an open house as the trophy towers over the trophy case.
United Press International reports results from the Kentucky high school basketball tournament. Earlington defeated Covington Catholic 85 54 and Covington Catholic edged Central 67 65 in semifinals. Breathitt County 64 over Monticello 44. Quarterfinals saw Central 72 over Allan County 9 Covington Catholic 1, Monticello 44 over Earlington 85, Atherton 64 over Breathitt 61, Harrison County 56 over First Round Thursday results list Tilghman 49 over Covington Catholic 78 and Earlington 76 over Russell 72. Early rounds include Harrison County 67 over Harlan 59 and E Town Catholic 0 over Ed. Owensboro 45 and Franklin County 48.
