Rum runners killed in Jellico gunfight with federal agents
Three men died and a fourth was wounded in a pistol battle with federal officers near Jellico. Victims were Walter Perkins George Perkins and Morrison Ayres. Deputy W. S. Faynes was seriously wounded and remained hospitalized. Deputies Chief Hedeth and Deputies Covey and Vens were among those hit as the tunnel men allegedly surrendered then opened fire.
