Willie McCovey slugged two homers in one inning, including a grand slam, to power the San Francisco Giants past the Cincinnati Reds 15 9. The slam set an NL record as McCovey became the only player to hit two homers in an inning twice in his career. In other NL action, Dodgers beat Braves 2 1 and Cubs beat Expos 4 3.
The Denver Nuggets signed 6-7 free agent forward Jacky Dorsey, former Georgia athlete and second round pick of the New Orleans Jazz last year. He played this past season with Hartford in the FBL and earned all-league honors as a rookie with 21.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game in 21 appearances.
The Sweathogs defeated the Reds 18 to 8 delivering their second win in as many games plus the Jackets beat the Streakers 5 to 0. After two games and a rainout each, the Sweathogs and Jackets stand 2 4, while Reds and Streakers sit at 0 2.
Clancy s Pours It on ends season with a 22 9 win over playoff bound Callison s in a chaotic game. Callison s sent 12 men to the plate in the first inning for seven runs on two hits before Clancys stormed back with nine runs in the fourth and 18 total runs in the inning. Mark Tutner led Clancys with three hits and four RBI s as Jimmy Mills earned the win with eight strikeouts. Epps Hillers fell behind as Epps 34 faced heavy offense, and Callison s used five pitchers without success. The Senior League schedule includes 7 11 playoff prep games and matchups with Mid South Mack and Pet Dairy.
