Switch Blamed in Arthur Tenn Train Derailment
A Southern Railway freight train from Knoxville bound for Middlesboro derailed near the old Route 63 crossing in Arthur Tennessee after a faulty switch point. The 100 tons of limestone and the 4020 mph train caused the wreck but no injuries occurred. Conductor Howard Dew and Brakeman S J Tuff expressed relief, while Flagman Kenneth Mauve said they were thankful to be alive. Crews expected to clear the wreckage by this afternoon.

In Olympia Police Court yesterday one case was held over and the accused released on bond. Another man, Eugene Aldridge of Winchester Avenue, was fined for public drunkenness and had a warrant issued by his wife Margaret. Aldridge posted $200 bond. his case will be heard in January. James Wiggins of Jonesville paid $29 for public drunkenness. Four cases will be heard today.
