Burley tobacco prices held steady or dipped slightly as auctions close for Christmas. In New Tazewell 126,048 pounds sold for 151,105.70 at 111.97 per 100 pounds, and Pennington Gap moved 150,718 pounds for 176,401.28 at 116.20 per cwt. Kentucky totals reach 21,208,336 pounds for 24,855,327.87 at 117.20 per cwt. Springfield led at 119.69 while Lonon was 107.80. Four Kentucky markets exceeded a million pounds each: Lexington, Maysville, Shelbyville, Carrollton. Auctions pause after Thursday for holidays and resume January 6.
