Nationwide Rail Strike Postponed After Negotiations Progress
A nationwide 70 000 shopcraft workers strike was postponed early today as union and railroad negotiators made progress on two of five technical work rule issues. Wages were not at issue. Union leaders praised the advance while federal mediator W J Usery Jr urged a brief recess to keep talks going. The contract would be retroactive to December 34, 1974.
