Steel-Ripping Duel Kills Man In Kentucky Crash

In Louisville a steel ripping duel between two cars on Dixie Highway ended in the death of 30 year old Vernon Montgomery. Raymond Renfro 24 was arrested on voluntary manslaughter County police say the cars collided repeatedly and Montgomery was crushed when his car overturned. Witnesses described a terrifying high speed sequence.

Woolson Statue At Gettysburg Honors Union Veteran

The Woolson statue depicts Albert Woolson, Union veteran and last surviving member of the Grand Army of the Republic, seated in a blue GAR uniform with a walking stick. Crafted by Dr. Orand Fairbanks, it was delivered to Gettysburg and will be dedicated September 12 with Maj. Gen. US Grant III delivering the main address. The Sons of Union Veterans funded the $17,000 sculpture tribute to Woolson and comrades who have passed. Woolson died at 109. three Confederate veterans survive, oldest now 143.
