The Haz ard meeting noted armed guards blocking the first site and a locked gate key held by a man squirrel hunting. The group heard testimony from the Appalachian Group to Save the Land and the People. only one operator employee spoke. Further trips to strip mined areas are planned before final conclusions and recommendations.
In Plymouth Indiana a freight train caboose caught fire Monday night after an oil stove overturned. Firemen quickly controlled the flames, no injuries reported.
UPI reports the National Safety Council estimates 580 to 660 Americans may not return home as Labor Day weekend travel peaks, with holiday traffic warnings issued to reduce risk on highways and byways.
