Clarence E. Childers Dies as Longtime Daily News Pressman
Clarence E. Childers, 53, lifelong Middlesboro resident and Daily News pressman for 17 years, began as lead plate worker in the old plant and rose to pressman on the new offset press. He is married to uth and father of twin daughters Connie Sue Dean and Brenda Low Abbott, both grown with families. An auto mechanic and antique car restorer, he also builds radio equipment and holds a Citizens Band license, spending winters with a two way radio set.

Calloway Mr and Mrs Park Tipton and Doris Miller of Balkan made a business trip to Lexington Kentucky recently. Mr and Mrs Orville Miracle and son Tony and Bradley visited, with his parents Mr and Mrs Roosevelt Miracle of Balkan and his sister, Mr and Mrs Park Tipton. Meb Campbell Dies in Howe Coal Mine Accident
Meb Campbell 30 formerly of Middlesboro Rt 2 and resident of Howe Oklahoma died in a mine accident at Howe Coal Co Thursday August 19 1971. He was a Navy veteran a Mine Foreman and member of the Demoloys and Auxiliary of the Order of the Redman. Survivors include wife Gloria Jean three children parents brothers nieces nephews and several aunts. Funeral services are set for August 23 at Fulton and Essary with burial in Turner Cemetery Colmar Kentucky. Shumate Funeral Home to handle arrangements.
