Ships Set For Gemini Space Flight

A fleet of 28 ships was deployed worldwide to support America’s eight day Gemini flight set to start August 13. Lt Gen Leighton T Davis said about 10 000 men will be on station as orbit prepares for L Gordon Cooper and Pete Conrad. Ships will cover Atlantic and Pacific for potential early landings. USS Neosim led the deployment from Norfolk while destroyers Manley and James Owens left Charleston days ago.

Nixon urges Johnson to discipline Democrats over Vietnam policy

Nixon told reporters in Cedar Rapids that President Johnson should crack down on Democrats opposing Vietnam policy and singled out Senate leaders Mansfield and Fulbright as needing discipline. Destroying Draft Card Means Jail
