Harding Funeral Train Reaches Chicago After Midwestern Journey

The Harding funeral train advanced through the Middle West toward Chicago arriving at about noon. Crowds welcomed the funeral party at stations along the way, with thousands on hand in Omaha and a large gathering in the railroad yards at Cedar Rapids as Mrs. Harding remained in her private car. The procession continued under careful, solemn conduct as the nation mourned the late president.

Union Trust Building Nears Completion with Largest Banking Room

The Union Trust building in Cleveland, at Euclid Avenue and Bastoth Street, rises 23 stories and is claimed to have the world’s largest banking room. Marble columns frame a five story main hall with a “U” shaped design for savings and commercial areas. Two balconies overlook offices, with a long ducs room, offices, a cafeteria, kitchen, private hospital facilities, washrooms, dining rooms, and conference spaces planned for staff and visitors.

New Chicago Temple Among Tallest In World

The new Chicago Temple, a Methodist structure in the Loop at the intersection of major business thoroughfares, costs about 8.1 million dollars. When completed the church and office tower will rise to 21 stories and be among the tallest churches worldwide, with a total value near 6.5 million dollars and doors open day and night.
