Thanksgiving service and charity honors in Nassau Bahamas
The IBPOE service at Christ Church Cathedral featured a sermon from Very Reverend Fr Eric Jay and Handel's Hallelujah Chorus by the Peoples Volunteer Musical Association. The Bahamian parade drew hundreds as Charles Taylor and Irvin Cartwright, jailed since October 1945 for attempted murder, were released on good behavior for the remainder of their seven year terms on Long Island. A Western Sporting Club dance at Zanzibar hotel showcased special lighting and Louis Adams orchestra with prize raffles to fund lab equipment. Knights of St Gregory the Great were invested at St Francis Xavier's Church with a reception of hundreds. Miss Rebe Lowndes, sister of the late Rev W W Lowndes, left £100 and a life interest in part of her estate to the diocese.
