NDA Head Urges More Negro Dentists Nation Wide
Dr A M Mackel president of the National Dental Association told the New Orleans session that 13 000 dentists are needed to end shortages and that NDA works to open opportunities for Negro students and to serve national defense. He said Negro dentists do not discriminate and emphasized growth of the profession.

Wife of Newsman Tries Death by Own Action
Mrs. Marjorie Fowlkes, 40, wife of William Fowlkes, Georgia correspondent for the Pittsburgh Courier and radio analyst for WERD, is listed in fair condition after police and firemen rescued her from an apparent suicide attempt at their Atlanta home. Firemen broke in, found her unconscious with gas jets on. patrolmen and rescuers restored breathing. Family trouble was cited by Mr. Fowlkes, who said she created a disturbance at the radio station and threatened to kill herself and their two children.

Alpha Phi Alpha To Award Scholarships In Dallas
Alpha Phi Alpha will award 4050 in scholarships and fellowships to encourage higher education. Essays 2000 to 5000 words on Significant World Social and Scientific Outlook must be submitted by May 4 to Wilberforce University or local chapter presidents. Five 410 awards and four 500 fellowships available. The annual Educational Campaign runs March 22 to 29 with about 240 chapters expected to participate.
