Slayer Confesses to Liberty City Teacher Slaying
Algernon Bellamy 32 pleaded guilty to first degree murder of Hosie Mercedes Byron 25 in her upstairs Liberty City home after a quarrel ended in strangulation. He described the events and said he did not know she was dead when he left. Judge Wisehart ordered a pre sentence investigation as the case moves toward possible death penalty.

Two Youths Killed In Car Crash Near Fort Lauderdale
Two youths died early Saturday when their car jumped an embankment and hit a tree just outside Fort Lauderdale. Four others were hurt as the group returned to Miami. driver John Lofton sustained minor injuries. Deceased are Willie N. Green 22 and John P. Smith 25, both of 1701 NW Fifth Ave. Serious injuries to Edward O Neil 21 of 332 NW 16th Ter and John W. Douse 21 of 327 NW 14th Ter.

Drake Dies Suddenly After 64 Years in Ministry
Rev J W Drake a pioneer Miami minister and longtime St John Baptist Church pastor died suddenly early Monday in West Palm Beach. He served Florida East Coast Baptist Association as moderator for over two decades and recently marked the 39th anniversary of his Miami pastorate. He was a trustee and business manager at Florida Normal and Collegiate Institute in St Augustine.
