First Big National Convention For Miami Opens
Milo C Murray of Gary Indiana Grand Basileus officially opened the 38th Grand Conclave at Booker T Washington high school. The event marks the first time a Greek letter organization holds its national meeting south of Atlanta. Delegates praise Miami for weather hospitality and racial harmony as leaders gather to mark the 40th anniversary of Omega Psi Phi founded in 1911 at Howard University. Three original founders will be honored at the Founders Banquet at Dinner Key Municipal Auditorium. Judge L E Thomas will speak at the banquet. A Sunday public meeting at VM Zion Baptist Church features Jr Benjamin E Mays of Morehouse College on communism. Sessions run through Sunday with a two day Cuba air excursion for delegates, then back for the Orange Bowl. The theme is World Peace Through Strengthening Democracy, and President Truman commended the fraternity in a letter. Seventh District representative J T Brooks hosts, with local Sigma Alpha as host chapter.

Plan for Negroes to Attend Kentucky Non Public Schools
Louisville leaders move to amend the Day Law to allow parochial and other non public schools in Kentucky to admit Negro students. The measure, submitted by Patrick Kirwan and backed by the Mayor's Legislative committee and Catholic School Board secretary Rt. Rev. Felix N. Pitt, would let non public school management admit children of all races at all levels if approved and drafted for the 1952 General Assembly.
