Dr Nannie Helen Burroughs was elected member at large of the executive committee for 1950 55 and vice chairman of the women's section of the Baptist World Alliance at its Cleveland meeting. A veteran of nearly five decades with the world body she addressed the gathering on On Him Alone We Build. Now based in Washington DC she also heads the Woman's Convention Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.

Boy Dies From Fall At Play
William Tyson Jr an 11 year old boy died after falling at a play scene. Police reported the accident occurred at a local playground where witnesses said he fell from a height. Investigators said no signs of foul play were found and the death is being treated as an accidental cause.

Psycho patient runs third rail unharmed in Chicago

Master Sgt. Andrew B. White 32 son of Mr and Mrs Abe White of 1956 NW Fifth Place was wounded in Korea becoming the first Miami Negro soldier felled by enemy fire. A Tokyo telegram said he was evacuated to a hospital this week with a gunshot wound to the scapular region and a lower back sprain. White, a 1986 Booker T. Washington High School graduate, served three years as a lieutenant in World War II and re enlisted as a master sergeant after two years at the University of California. He is father of a baby girl. his sister Evelyn Williams BTW instructor and brother James a Marine Corps veteran at Howard University. His family hopes for a stateside shipment soon.
