Theodore Roe known as Black Robin Hood rose to wealth in Chicago through a vast policy empire. His funeral drew over 50,000 at First Church of Deliverance and 25,000 at Jackson chapel. He was shot by white mobsters near his home, leaving a defiant smile as he died. Roe had cancer and had predicted dying in bed.
