Florida Supreme Court rejects further oral argument in Rice vs Arnold

The Florida Supreme Court told City Attorney John W. Watson that it will not hear additional oral arguments in the Rice versus Arnold golf case. Watson sought to file a brief and present further argument after the U S Supreme Court ruling, but the request was denied.

Ten years of YWCA growth in the Negro Branch

A decade after its founding from a 20 member club the YWCA Negro Branch now numbers over 900 women and girls. The branch offers Y Teen clubs, business and professional groups, educational classes, health and recreation activities, and committees as it invites the public to a 10th anniversary celebration at St Agnes Parish Hall on April 26 1951.

Cops Deliver Baby Boy at Delancy Home

Mr and Mrs Elena Delancy of 85 94 NW 14th Ct welcomed their eighth child Richard Leslie named for two White officers who delivered her in an emergency. Leslie Perkins and Richard Hedemark believed it a routine call and performed a perfect delivery. mother and baby are reported fine.

Local Laundry Union Organizers Trial Set

Judge Ben C. Willard ordered Dave Kaye and Sol Isaac to stand trial May 8 after pleading not guilty to attempted murder of Holton J. Newbold, ex laundry union worker who was critically wounded with five bullet holes after being found near the Krome ave canal on Feb. 28. James Nimmo also pleaded not guilty to being an accessory. his jury trial request will follow the Kaye Isaac case. Newbold identified the two organizers from his hospital bed.
