Parsonage and Parish Hall Dedication at St James AME

Rt. Rev. D Ward Nichols, presiding bishop of the 11th Episcopal district, will be guest speaker at St James AME Church 7:30 p.m. Sunday. He will dedicate the new parish hall and the parsonage. Nichols heads AME educational board and serves as an officer in the Federal Council of Churches. He recently completed a goodwill tour to Russia at President Eisenhower's request.

Two Houses Bombed in White Birmingham Neighborhood

Explosions believed caused by dynamite damaged two adjacent white-owned houses in Birmingham Alabama on Wednesday night no injuries reported. Neighbors say the homes were recently sold to Black residents with one sale Monday and another Tuesday, damaging the porches foundations and windows. A separate note mentions a change in divorce residency from 90 days to six months.

NAACP Drives Aimed at 5000 New Members in Dade

The NAACP branches in Dade County plan a Fight for Freedom drive from April 28 to May 17 to recruit 5000 new members and raise substantial funds. Dr. A Joseph Reddick, state president, urges broad participation from Miami Liberty City and associated groups. Co chairs Rev James Byrd and Marion Muldrow note strong past performance and seek 1000 volunteers from clubs churches lodges and the city. prizes will reward outstanding reports.
