City sales tax law may be changed in Missouri
Joplin leaders expect revision moves to alter the city one cent sales tax adopted last December. State Sen. Richard Webster will seek a legislative research committee review with testimony from Joplin chamber executives and business groups after changes are proposed for the next legislative session. Some merchants say the current law, modeled on California, is unfair and lawmakers may model after Oklahoma to exempt goods delivered outside a taxed city.
