Dickey Sees Chance On Emergency Items
Missouri Representative Charles H. Dickey Jr says only real emergencies remain in an appropriations debate. The House Appropriations Committee tabled a 23 million plus bill after chairman E. J. Cantrell’s heart seizure, with a possible Senate move to bring its own bill. Dickey argues genuine emergencies are funds for the University of Missouri, the clean water commission, public defenders fees, and Capitol rehabilitation. He notes nursing home payments are federally funded and not an emergency, and he would abstain to keep vote options open. The AP reports the House committee stalled further action pending developments.
