Centralia and Paris Dependent on Depth in Season Opener
Centralia coach Rocky Calhoun and Paris mentor Jerry Mansfield worry about a thin depth pool as their Clarence Cannon Conference teams prepare for Friday night. Centralia relies on 16 sophomores with four seniors and four juniors, led by quarterback Marc Wellborn and receivers Burnett and Kaiser. Mansfield notes good depth in some spots but lacks it at tackle quarterback and fullback, with Paris hoping for a sturdy defense and a few seasoned players to counter youth. The Panthers aim to improve on a 3-6-1 record and warn of early mistakes as the season begins.
