Dorothy Sapp, delegate to the Bi State FOE Conference in Saline Kansas, reviewed meetings and activities for the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. The group met at the FOE Lodge to discuss sponsoring the Women’s Welfare Conference on April 1 and 2, 1978, with Sapp named conference chairman to organize the events. Attendees included Ruby Johnston presiding and many other members.
James Bledsoe American Legion Post Auxiliary held its monthly meeting with Halloween costumes. Nellie Elliott presided as president. Plans were made for a Veterans Day supper on November 11 at 6 30 p.m. in charge by the Legion. New members Mrs. Bob McKinney and Mrs. Lawrence King welcomed. A Thanksgiving basket will be donated with chairmen Mrs. Clark Stephens and Mrs. Arthur Scott. Prizes went to Mrs. Mary Ellen Jones and Mrs. Wallace Melahn. Next meeting is November 16.
Three Audrain County Porkettes Mrs. Bob Fort Mrs. Oliver Johnson and Mrs. John Rudasill took part in the October Porkfest Promotion Training at Farmland Industries Kansas City and then joined in in-store promotions in local grocery stores. They distributed 50 kits of pork baby food ceramic pigs and recipes to Audrain Medical Center and supplied ham to Mexico Band Parents for football games. A 2 pork steak lunch was held on Highway 54 East to conclude Porkfest. The county clubs planned the county banquet on December 9 and the state annual meeting on February 24 1978 at Tan-Tar-A.
The Robnett family gathered for a reunion at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Holstein. Attendees included Woodrow Hilbert of Stoutsville, Catherine Robnett, Richard Shepard, Natalie Stacie and Kristy of Pacific, John Mollet and Ray of Rush Hill, Clara Sweitzer, Russell Sweitzer, Joe Sweitzer of Mexico, Marland Preston of Marshall, Fred Steinberg of Union, Ed Minker, Alfred Foster and Robert Finley of Fulton, Lawrence Howard of Kingdom City, Kenneth Robnett and Connie, Ken Robnett, Jon and Jay of Laddonia, Ray Adkins, Dennis and Ellie, Bill Adkins, Larry, and Don Gilpin of Columbia. Mrs. Ed Minker and Mrs. Fred Steinberg are daughters of the late William F. Robnett.
Mrs Martha Doerge and Ronald Reinerd were married October 21 at 8 p.m. at Littleby Methodist Church. Rev Bruce Mitchell officiated. The bride, daughter of Walter and Mrs Doerge of Route 4, and the groom, son of Dean and Mrs Reinerd of Route 5, work at Commerce Bank and Morton Buildings Co.
At the latest meeting of the MG and D Doers 4-H Club, Ann Beauchamp was named president, Charles Johnson vice president, Sara Smart secretary, Tina Williams treasurer, and Victor Davis reporter. Chad Colley and Clay Austin lead games, Russell Runge is yearbook chairman, with 21 members present. Alan Fisher earned a trip to the 4-H Congress in Chicago as a local delegate.
Vandalia announces the engagement of Marsha Middleton of Quincy Illinois to Rodney Peters of Quincy. Middleton is a Blessing Hospital nurse and a 1977 graduate of Blessing School of Nursing. Peters is a 1974 Notre Dame High School graduate employed at Peters Heating and Air Conditioning. An April 22 wedding is planned in Vandalia.
