Bird Dog Trial Won By Dr Swan At Idlewild Acres
Dr Swan wins the annual Tri-County Pointer and Setter Club field trial held on Idlewild Acres northwest of Wellsville. About 150 spectators watched 32 dogs compete in 16 braces across 630 acres with four trophies awarded, judges on horseback, and quail training noted. The event drew hunters from across Missouri and Iowa, with Idlewild Kennels supplying expert dogs.

Three Centralia Senior Girl Scouts Linda Grosglauser Connie Troyer and Gayle Brubaker joined about 50 local participants at the 39th Girl Scout National Council convention in Dallas October 22 to 25. More than 8,000 delegates and visitors from 50 states Puerto Rico and the Canal Zone attended. Grosglauser took part in an International Dinner featuring a fundraising idea bazaar for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund. Delegates adopted a new version of the Girl Scout Promise and Laws after a three-year study.
