Auburn Rips Mexico Defense Bulldogs Suffer Through One-Man Show

Quincy C.B. Raiders capitalized on Jeff Amburn's virtuoso 230 rushing yards and one touchdown to defeat the Mexico Bulldogs 20-6 at Hawthorn Heights. Amburn carried 36 times as Mexico, slowed by injuries to starters Long and Young, struggled to contain the Raiders who pulled away in the third quarter with a 14-point surge. The Bulldogs scored first on a Steve Sparks TD but went scoreless after the opening period as Pasadena-like control swung to Quincy, who also notched a safety and a 23-yard TD pass by Johnson to Peters. Amburn surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the season and the Raiders improved to 2-0 in the series, while Mexico prepares for a showdown with Helias for the Mid-State Conference title.
