GM knew engine mounts failures in 1966 69 Chevrolets claim
An unnamed Nader aide said GM knew for at least two years that engine mounts on some 1966 to 1969 Chevrolets could break but GM did not recall the cars or inform owners. The aide cited letters from the NHTSA files including a 1969 letter from Charles H Combe of Livonia Michigan about a broke mount on his 1968 Chevrolet. The NHTSA has received similar complaints. GM says it is investigating engine mount failures and has answered inquiries from the agency.
