St Louis area eyed 218000 to 288000 new jobs by 1985
A study by the Regional Commerce and Growth Association projects the St Louis metropolitan area must add between 218000 and 288000 jobs by 1985 to offset population growth and reduce unemployment to 5 percent. Manufacturing would supply about 46100 of the new jobs and the city must invest at least 500 million in new plants and equipment and designate up to 1990 acres for industrial use. The ACGA notes population should bottom out by 1980 before two decades of growth.
