Vandalia approves sewer bond issue for city projects
Vandalia voters approved a 350000 dollar revenue bond issue to fund waterworks and sewer improvements. The 304 to 68 vote meets the required majority, with the plan including dredging a reservoir and funding a 700000 dollar project cost. Officials expect a 20 percent water rate increase, while sewer charges should not rise. The bond relies on a 140000 dollar Farmers Home Administration grant and a matching EPA grant.
