Gas Dealers Plan March On Capitol

Gas station operators across the country launch a petition drive to urge Congress relief from energy crisis pressures and price controls. They seek to block coupon rationing, halt a federal tax increase, free Phase 4 price rules, ease emission standards, ban refiners from retail sales, and impose uniform speed limits. The campaign targets 25 million signatures and a January march on the Capitol. Dealers represent 28 states and about 100,000 members, contending Phase 4 profits are capped while production falls, forcing many to close or raise margins to survive.
