Trash as Fuel Aids St Louis Power Study
In St Louis and seven-county area, trash is shredded and burned to run a Meramec power plant boiler. Engineer David Krumb says even full trash-scale burning would supply only 5 to 10 percent of the city’s fuel needs, while recovering metals and reducing waste. EPA funding covers about two-thirds of the $3 million project.
