Refractories Industry Struggles With Gas Allotments
Natural Gas continues to press the Ledgerland refractories sector as agencies weigh increased allotments. Industry leaders warn chances are poor and small firms face unaffordable oil if fuel oil becomes scarce. Standby oil last year was 12 cents a gallon, now higher for domestic and foreign varieties not covered by allotments. Shutdowns seem likely even with fuel supply.

White House pins leaks on Jaworski office at time
Washington officials faulted the office of special prosecutor Leon Jaworski for two leaks cited by the White House. One involved a Time magazine report on a $100,000 Nixon campaign donation by the Seafarers International Union, the other a Evans and Novak column about a request to delay disclosing an erased 18 minute tape segment. White House deputy press secretary Gerald Warren said no evidence ties Jaworski personally to the leaks.
