Dr. Donald Ross of Britain's National Heart Hospital plans no further heart transplants, citing American vein transplant technique that bypasses blocked vessels. He says over 1,400 similar operations have been done with success and could render heart transplants unnecessary. Reimplantation uses patient leg veins to bypass vessel blockages, avoiding rejection. In another note, Kentucky bank curtails operations, closing Farmers Bank of Petersburg due to insolvency.
