First Woman Lutheran Minister Ordained in America
Rev. Eliiza beth A Platz, 30, became the first woman Lutheran minister in America after ordination at the University of Maryland chapel. The ceremony featured laying on of hands and the presentation of a stole and Bible. Platz noted she chose the life and opposes discarding tradition, citing women’s sensitivity and practical care as strengths for chaplaincy.
