Missouri to automate diesel fuel tax checks with computer
Missouri's diesel tax losses stem from manual crosschecks of interstate carriers. A new computer program will compare names of nonfilers to the Missouri motor carrier list, highlighting delinquent operators. If caught twice delinquent, a trucker's license may be revoked, and $5 fines apply. The effort aims to expand automation as interstate carriers using Missouri roads grow by about 1,200 annually.
