Heavy Rains Damage Crops In Nebraska

Persistent storms across north central Nebraska caused major crop damage in the North Platte Valley with corn hay and wheat losses. Flooding nearby towns Brule and Ogallala saw water two to three feet deep, train traffic slowed near Paxton, and Lake McConaughy rose as the North Platte River ran near bankful. A flash flood watch covered the area, with reports of hail up to golf ball size and tornado warnings in several counties. Ed May of Shenandoah Iowa was elected chairman of Tarkio College board of directors replacing Allan Atchison.
