TOTNES England AP British inventor Harold Bate has modified a 1955 Hillman to run on methane distilled from pig manure. A Frisbee sized device converts engine fuel, cost 33 dollars, and he says about 30 cubic feet of methane equals a gallon of petrol. About 5 000 motorists have bought his autogas converter as scientists and businessmen visit his Devon cottage to study pig dung energy potential.
