Plan To Break Ulster Strike
AP dispatch from Belfast reports Merlyn Rees returning with plans to end the 11 day general strike crippling Northern Ireland. Britain expected to move troops to deliver gas and oil before nightfall amid threats of a power blackout by Protestant militants. Terrorists bombed two Belfast service stations and rampaged in Ballymena and Balleymoney. Two Roman Catholics were killed in Ballymena. Prime Minister Wilson held an emergency cabinet meeting and vowed to crush militants blocking shipments and crippling industry. Strike leaders the Ulster Workers Council vowed to continue the action.

Moberly Man Cleared in Audrain Court Trial
Kenneth L. Simpson of Moberly was found not guilty by a six men and six women jury after a two day trial in Audrain County Circuit Court. The panel deliberated 37 minutes and returned the verdict at 5 25 p m Friday. Simpson faced amended charges of feloniously maiming and wounding his estranged wife Nannie Lou Simpson with a .22 caliber pistol amid a Feb 23 1972 shooting in Randolph County. He testified he tried to grab the gun as his wife pointed it at him while riding in his truck. Prosecutor Karl Madden urged a guilty verdict with a three year prison term. Defense attorney David V Bear appeared for Simpson.
