MU Professor Opposes Gasification Project in Boone County
Missouri energy officials weigh coal gasification but a nuclear engineering professor at the University of Missouri says immediate needs do not favor a plant. Walter Meyer, co chair of a group opposing the Boone County proposal, urges delaying any project until 8 to 10 years from now. The site potential for Huntsdale and additional plants in northern Missouri are part of the advisory committee plans for early 1980s operation. In a separate Georgia note, Georgia Southwestern College researchers remember 1942 cement writers including Bill Davis and Jimmy Carter.
